And one of them named Agabus stood up and foretold by the Spirit that there would be a great famine over all the world (this took place in the days of Claudius). So the disciples determined, every one according to his ability, to send relief to the brothers and sisters living in Judea.” —Acts 11:28–29 ESV
Prayer Focus: Ukraine—On February 24, 2022, Russian armed forces crossed the border into Ukraine, initiating deadly warfare, widespread devastation to structures and livelihoods, and resulting in mass displacement of Ukrainians from their homes and churches. The Church of God in Ukraine, Germany, Hungary, Bulgaria, the United States and Canada, and other locations around the world have partnered to care for internally displaced peoples (IPDs) and refugees; funds are being utilized to assist in relief, resettlement, and ultimately long-term reconstruction and restoration of homes, churches, and communities.
Prayer Starter: Heavenly Father, there is no one like you. Your splendor and power are unmatched. We see your glory reflected in the beauty and magnificence of all creation; indeed, you are the creator and sustainer of life. We confess that we are troubled deeply by those whose hands seek to take away life—life from those made in your image. We know that the affairs of this world, including governments and authorities, are ultimately under your control. Therefore, we appeal to you—in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace—to bring a swift end to the violence; that you would bind up the brokenhearted; that you would protect your people; that you would mobilize your church to bring the help and hope so urgently needed in Ukraine. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
