Second Sunday of Advent: The Candle of Love“...what are humans that you are mindful of them, mortals that you care for them? Yet you have made them a little lower than God and crowned them with glory and honor. You have given them dominion over the works of your hands; you have put all things under their feet...” (Psalm 8:4-6)The greatest caretaker, the one who knows every need, the one who honors others, the one who has thoughts and feelings toward us. This is our God, and He is love.He put on flesh and left His heavenly home to live with us— to see us, hear us, and touch us. He came to know and experience the very existence of human needs. He came to be close. He is the ultimate giver of good gifts. The best gift being Himself. But what is the essence of the best gift unless it is received?Receive the person of Jesus. Receive and keep receiving Him every day until He comes for His second Advent. He has loved you, cared for you, and chosen you before the foundations of the world to be holy and blameless before Him in love. (Ephesians 1:4)Today, as we light the Candle of LOVE. May we know that the flame burning in His heart has and will always be for us.By: Rev. Meagan Flores ... See MoreSee Less

First Sunday of Advent: The Candle of HopeThe darling one of Heaven, the firstborn of Creation, came as a lowly, vulnerable baby boy. His destiny was to die and be raised to life again. To lay down His own perfect life, to give what no one else would ever be qualified or able to give— perfect love. Love that forgives, cleanses, unifies, speaks truth, and restores relationships to Himself and others.Jesus is love. God is love. The Holy Spirit is love. Because we know Him, we know what love is. “We know love by this, that he laid down his life for us—and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers and sisters.” (1 John 3:16)Our deepest longing is to be loved and to love— longing for rescue, longing for help, longing to be seen and heard, longing to be loved fully without reservations, consistent love. Longing for a place to belong, someone to belong to, a holy family to be enveloped in.Where do we find these things? Where must we look? Where does our help come from? Our help comes from the Lord. The one who made everything that is, including you and me. (Psalm 121:1-2)Our Helper has come. Our Helper who is always leading us to Jesus, who has made way for us to belong to Himself and His Father to be a child in His holy family. Our longing is fulfilled by Jesus, who has given us a place with Him—a seat in Heaven, a place in His home.“God, who is rich in mercy, out of the great love with which he loved us even when we were dead through our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace, you have been saved— and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 2:4-7)As we light this Candle of HOPE today, may we remember that we are now living in the age of His grace, unending kindness, and abounding love. We are seen and heard. We do belong to Him. Every longing in our hearts is satisfied in Him.By: Rev. Meagan Flores ... See MoreSee Less
